McCain's Lightning Rod

By Ken Williamson

After watching John McCain’s acceptance speech at the

Republican Convention, I see why he chose Palin as his

running mate. John McCain needs someone to draw

attention away from the fact that he is the political

equivalent of an empty oil drum. He has

absolutely nothing to offer America. He has no plan to

fix the economy, no plan for making health care

affordable, no plan to return jobs to America, and no

plan to end this failed war in Iraq. All McCain has to

offer is his war record, but his war record won’t put

food on the tables of out of work fathers and

disadvantaged families. His war record won't bring

jobs back to America and his war record won't

provide health care for the uninsured. The worst

thing is that John McCain doesn’t even understand

that there is a problem with the economy in the

United States. He probably thinks we all have

millions in the bank. Wake up John McCain; it’s

the economy and nothing else. Sarah Palin is

nothing more than a decoy and she is irrelevant

in this election.

McCain is playing the oldest game in politics. That

game is for an inept politician to hide behind

someone else and let that other person take the heat.

This is one of Carl Rove's favorite tactics and Rove

is now advising McCain. McCain and Rove know

that McCain has absolutely no chance what so ever

at competing against Obama on the issues, so the

diversion of Sarah Palin is exactly what McCain needs.

But here are the facts America:

  • Obama and McCain are the presidential candidates, not Obama and Palin

  • McCain's history in congress and his plan for America are in question, not Palin's

  • McCain's speech was empty and pointless with nothing that gives hope to America

  • McCain is the one that said “ we were elected to change Washington, and we let Washington change us”

  • McCain was one of the “The Keating Five”, not Palin

  • McCain, not Palin, is the candidates not qualified to be Commander in Chief

McCain and the Republicans need to wake up and

understand that Americans are fed up with their

style of politics. The Republicans were in control

of Congress and the Oval Office for most of the

last five years, but now they want to blame the

Democrats for all that went wrong. Suddenly, the

Democrats are responsible for high oil prices.

Suddenly, the Democrats are responsible for the

health care crisis that American's face. And

suddenly, the Democrats are responsible for the

loss of jobs over the last seven years. Give me a

break, no one is stupid enough to believe that.

I have a little newsflash for you John McCain,

American's are not as stupid as some Republicans

would like to believe. The reason Barack Obama

will win this election with a landslide is the fact

that he understands the problems that American's

face. Unlike McCain, Obama was elected to change

Washington and that is exactly what he is in the

process of doing. Unlike McCain, Obama didn't let

Washington change him.

The facts or on the table, the Republican party

has become the party of the very wealthy and the

Democratic party has become the party for the

rest of America. Republicans like to scare

American's with claims that the Democrats will

raise taxes, cause the loss of jobs, and destroy the

health care system. But with no plan for America

and no solutions to the problems that American's

face, making false claims is the only hope that

Republicans have of winning this election.

Barack Obama will win this election with a landslide.

I have no doubt that American's will see beyond the

Palin distraction and vote for long needed change in

Washington. I have no doubt that American's will

stand up in November and take America back. And

I have no doubt that American's, regardless of their

race or religion, will see beyond Sarah Palin and join

hands in November to elect Barack Obama the 44th

president of the United States of America.
